The ASMBC degree program provides the knowledge to work in entry-level positions in health care organizations, and a foundation for the earning of more advanced degrees. The general education component focuses on classifying and coding diagnosis and procedures.

The foundations of Billing and Coding are addressed by courses in coding, medical terminology, disease processes, health care organizations, and management. Graduates gain concepts and skills that provide the ability to be immediately productive in both public and private health organizations.
